Quick answer

Mi-Ho was established on 1 July 2013. Its founder, Steven Zhang, has 26 years of toy engineering and mold-design experience. The factory’s own history begins in 2013; the founder’s experience goes back further. The 2027 move is not complete: the lease is signed and paid, with the earliest completion target at the end of December 2027.

1. Before 2013: the engineer, not the factory

Before Mi-Ho had its own factory, Steven Zhang was already working as an engineer in the toy and collectible industry. He handled client projects through partner factories, reviewing product structure, tooling, samples and production details.

That period matters for two reasons:

  • it built practical knowledge of how a design becomes a production-ready product;
  • it created the working relationships that later supported the factory.

It does not mean that MIHOX currently outsources production to external factories. The current manufacturing base is owned: Mi-Ho and Boyuan.

2. 2013: Mi-Ho becomes its own factory

In 2013, Steven established Mi-Ho as his own factory in Dongguan. The move changed the model: instead of coordinating a project through a partner factory, the engineering review, tooling decisions, sampling and production could sit inside one owned operation.

Mi-Ho began with injection molding and built its scope around the needs of character-based toys and collectibles. Over time, the factory added resin casting and soft vinyl work, plus the finishing and assembly needed to deliver a finished product.

The business license and registration details are the authoritative record. The factory profile on the Mi-Ho page is a guide to the operation, not a substitute for the license.

3. What the founder changed

The difference is not a slogan about “factory direct.” It is the engineering review that happens before tooling and the sample discipline that happens before mass production.

In practice, that means:

  • reviewing the product structure and material before committing to a mold;
  • identifying tooling, assembly and finishing risks early;
  • checking the sample against the approved specification;
  • keeping production and quality decisions with the factory team.

Steven’s role as chairman is focused on engineering, manufacturing standards and coordination between Mi-Ho and Boyuan. Day-to-day production is managed by the Mi-Ho factory team.

For the process detail, see the manufacturing guide and quality control process.

6. What this history means for a buyer

A founder’s history is useful only if it changes how a project is handled. For a buyer, the practical points are:

  • Continuity: the factory has operated as its own site since 2013;
  • Engineering review: tooling and sample decisions are reviewed before mass production;
  • Owned factories: Mi-Ho and Boyuan are within New Miho, not external suppliers;
  • Confidentiality: NDA-protected work stays out of the public sample gallery.

7. What you can verify

FAMA is a facility authorization, not a product certification or an IP licence. SMETA is an audit, not a certification. Check the legal entity, site, scope and validity inside the PDF.
